Devon Young Carers “Supporting an incredible community of young people aged 4-17 across the county. Every Young Carer deserves to be seen, heard and supported.” About DYC Am I a Young Carer? Registration DYC Toolkit DYC Passport Young Carer Awareness DYC Feedback Resources DYC Passport The Young Carers Passport has been designed to make life easier for young carers. It means they don’t have to keep repeating their story, and ensures the right people in their life understand that they are a Young Carer, how this affects them, and the kind of support they would like. The passport can be shared with any professional or setting the Young Carer or their family chooses, a school tutor, head of year, school transition/starting a new school, or with a family GP. This helps adults working with the Young Carer to have a greater understanding of the impact of their caring role, offer the right kind of help, and make reasonable adjustments where needed, to support them better. It’s important that the views of Young Carers are heard, how they feel, what challenges they face, and what support works best for them. After all, they are the experts in their own lives. If you would like Devon Young Carers to help complete or share a Young Carers Passport with a school, college, or other professionals, please let us know. We’ll be happy to support you.
