Neighbourhood Friends

Neighbourhood Friends is a volunteer led service focussed on avoiding hospital admissions and reducing hospital stays covering the RD&E footprint. 

Rapid Response Service

The Neighbourhood Friends Team carry our the practical tasks that friends and family would normally do.

This Includes:

  • Home from Hospital Support (transport).
  • Fitting key-safes.
  • Collecting Equipment.
  • Enabling a furniture move to make way for a hospital bed or medical equipment.
  • Post discharge telephone call to check on wellbeing.
  • Help with essential shopping.

Referrals can only be made by Health and Care Professionals.

The referral line is open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm. To make a referral please contact the Neighbourhood Friends team on:

    Did you know we offer 12,000 Health Walk places across 24 locations in Devon, offering the chance to explore the outdoors, get to know the local area and meet new friends?

    Walks are accessible to all and range from Short Level 1 - Up to 30 minutes, to Long Level 3 - 60 to 90 minutes.

    All walks are led by our fully trained Volunteer Walk Leaders.

    Our purpose-built teaching kitchen offers a range of courses for those who wish to gain knowledge, skills and confidence in cooking whilst learning to create healthy, cost-effective meals to suit their lifestyle.

    Our patient transport service enables people to attend their healthcare appointments and exercise and rehabilitation classes.

    In 2023, our Patient Transport Services Team supported over 3,200 referrals.
