Jennifer Knight, Westbank Kidzone Childcare Practitioner

About my role at Westbank

I see my role at Westbank to be ensuring all children are as happy, safe and content as they can be while guiding them to their full potential.

Experience

Before my employment here I completed multiple placements including our local primary school as well as a nursery setting, helping me gain experience in a wide range of ages. Alongside this I was temporarily Exminster Brownies Youth Leader and a summer camp team member.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Children’s Learn, Play and Development
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Emergency First Aid at Work

My Values

I’ve wanted to work with children since leaving primary myself as I realise how important the first years of any child’s life are to who they become as a person, having even just a small impact on that makes me feel incredibly grateful and priviliged. And where else is best to do it than at the holiday club I attended as a child myself.

My Personal Interests

Outside of work I spend as much time at the beach as I can, either catching up with friends or with my family on a dog walk.

My favourite part of working with children is seeing their progression, from yes/no answers to full sentences and brief conversations. I think it is such a special thing to be part of. Of course it is also great joining in their play, getting a bit mucky outside or being served three course meals from our role play kitchen.
